(The Internet) 27-JUNE-2008 -- Earlier this week php|architect's book php|architect's Guide to Programming with Magento, the first programming book for the new e-commerce system Magento, became available through many mainstream retail book stores.
The book has been available for purchase through the publisher's site in both PDF e-book format and regular printed format for close to 3 weeks. But, the arrival of the book on Web sites such as bn.com and amazon.com means a significant milestone for the books first-time author, Mark Kimsal.
"It was very hard to write a book for a piece of software that was still beta.", said Kimsal. "You didn't know if a bug was going to be fixed in the next week or so, if you should warn your readers about it, or if that practice would look to negative, or antagonistic of the book's subject."
"The book has had some positive reviews by readers", said Kimsal, "but, there was also some interesting feedback." Given the book's relative popularity as a PHP developer book, Mr. Kimsal had this to say about a the possibility of a second edition. "Definitely. We'll have to see how Magento's life-cycle goes, but all signs point to a second edition at some point in the future."
